EGSC OKs $670K for tech and repairs

OAKLAND CITY - East Gibson school trustees Monday agreed to
spend approximately $670,000 of the district's capital projects
fund Monday night.
The fund is designed for big ticket changes, from building projects
to upgrades in technology.
But in the past three years, with funding cuts, the district spent
roughly $650,000 per year from the fund to keep the buildings
going.
Those items include water, heat, utilities and upkeep of
buildings.
The district will get approximately $775,000 for the capital
projects fund this year, said Fleck, which will leave approximately
$125,000 for day-to-day operating expenses.
"We haven't spent that kind of money in the time I've spent there,"
said Fleck, who has been with the district for five years but
announced his resignation in January.
Board president Doug Meiring said that the spending wasn't anything
to worry about; funding for those operating costs can come from
other sources, he said.
"We are in no way depleting any account," he said, pointing out
that in the last few years, there have been surpluses at the end of
the year.
